چکیده

We present a fast corotational finite element framework for example-driven deformation of 3-dimensional solids. An example-driven deformation space and an example space energy is constructed by introducing the modified linear Cauchy strain with rotation compensation. During this simulation, our adopted total energy functional is quadratic, and its corresponding optimization can be quickly worked out by solving a linear system. For addressing the possible errors, we propose an effective error-correction algorithm. Some related factors including the parameters and example weights are also discussed. Various experiments are demonstrated to show that the proposed method can achieve high quality results. Moreover, our method can avoid complex non-linear optimization, and it outperforms previous methods in terms of the calculation cost and implementation efficiency. Finally, other acceleration algorithms, such as the embedding technique for handling highly detailed meshes, can be easily integrated into our framework. & 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A Corotational Elastic Constitiutive Model and its Application to the Analysis of a Large Deformation Closed Cycle

In this paper, an elastic constitutive model based on the Eulerian corotational rate of the logarithmic strain tensor is proposed. Using this model, the large deformation of a closed cycle containing tension, shear, compression and inverse shear is analyzed. Since the deformation path includes a closed cycle and the material is considered as an isotropic elastic material, the normal and shear c...

On the Corotational Beam Element Formulation in Large Deformation Analysis

This paper sheds more light on the co-rotational element formulation for beams with uniform cross-section. The co-rotational elements are commonly used in problems in which a structure undergoes a large deformation. In this study, the foregoing element obeys the Euler-Bernoulli beam assumptions. Unlike the formulations presented in the literature, in this paper, a number of local nodal coordina...

Corotated Finite Elements Made Fast and Stable

Multigrid finite-element solvers using the corotational formulation of finite elements provide an attractive means for the simulation of deformable bodies exhibiting linear elastic response. The separation of rigid body motions from the total element motions using purely geometric methods or polar decomposition of the deformation gradient, however, can introduce instabilities for large element ...
